The paper used was from a parcel which had been sent by the Artist's Mother from Wales to his Lodgings with the Winter Family at Hampton Wick, in London. He attended Kingston College of Art from 1967 - 1970, lodging with the Winter family all that period. The fragments of address scattered on the torn parcel pages were reassembled by a "stranger" who found this Sketchbook, those of the "Das Passions Spiel" and the "Aachen Dom" Sketchbook, which had been left on the London Underground. The Artist had visited his friend Julia Dawson (Mrs Jean-Pierre Billet) to show her the whole sequence of studies and mistakenly left them where he sat. Along with the Official Illustrated Guide to the Play published by the Community of Oberammergau the Sketchbooks turned up in the post anonymously at the Artist's Parents home in Wales - simply wrapped in Brown Paper and marked on the outside - "Religious Material." After an extensive search of all the material no other message was found.
